In February SophosLabs received 16402 unique new files of which over 82% were detected proactively. The top 5 proactive detections were: Mal/Generic-A 16% (detection of the 16402 files) Sus/UnkPacker 13% Sus/Malware-A
12% To protect against the rest SophosLabs issued 169 anti-malware updates containing 827 identities. These were broken down as: Trojans (including spyware) 58% Malware writers typically target the vast majority of machines that use
Windows as their operating system. We are often asked about whether other
operating systems are really vulnerable. The simple answer is Yes, there is
malware that targets Macintosh OS and some that target Unix. This month saw the
